I designed a set of collectable and tradeable cards highlighting untold perspectives in the Western world, reflecting on post-colonial discourse surrounding plants and their origins to inform and reveal to a younger generation the unknown stories of the itadori plant whilst also spreading awareness of Japanese Knotweed. I included both Western and Eastern perspectives respecting each experience. I illustrated the designs of the itadori cards with inspiration from traditional Japanese wood cut art to acknowledge the eastern origins of the plant and used foiling to add value, in comparison the Japanese Knotweed version of the cards resembles educational flashcards as their purpose is to educate the audience.
