This project explores the cultural revival of rice, tracing its journey from a symbol of life and prosperity in ancient China to its transformation into an economic resource during colonialism. It highlights the exploitation of slave labor and the erosion of rice's cultural significance. Through a digital interactive website and a physical booklet, the project reveals rice's shifting identity under colonial rule, prompting reflection on its legacy. By reexamining rice's symbolic and social value, the project aims to restore respect for its cultural heritage, fostering a renewed appreciation for this vital cultural symbol.
