This project represents an innovative integration of contemporary graphic art with historical narratives through the medium of augmented reality (AR) cards, with a particular focus on the themes of colonialism and post-colonialism. Drawing upon field research conducted at Kew Gardens, the creator of this project examined plants with a historical association to colonialism, ultimately selecting coffee as the central subject for the creation of the AR cards. The card designs incorporate the shapes of colonized countries within patterns reminiscent of coffee liquid, serving to visually represent the impact of colonial exploitation. Furthermore, traditional motifs and language originating from both colonizing and colonized cultures are employed to illustrate cultural invasion and exchange. The employment of AR technology serves to facilitate a meaningful intersection between historical events and modern interactive media, rendering complex historical subjects more accessible and engaging for contemporary audiences.
